Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer for the Police Force, has provided explanations for why crossdressers in Nigeria are cannot be arrested or face legal action.
In an interview with Channels TV, the PRO was questioned about the way the police are responding to the crossdressing crisis in Nigeria.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, certain cases are extremely challenging to prove. He brought up rape case, stating that there are numerous requirements to be met and that failing to meet even one of them could result in a losing legal battle.
He believed that without credible evidence against a person, you cannot make an arrest and bring charges against them.
To the best of his knowledge, he added, crossdressing is not illegal in Nigeria; nonetheless, accusations against crossdressers are based on natural offences, and in order to pursue legal action, one must present substantial proof.
