STRANGER ON THE BUS

It was a hot afternoon
Couldn’t walk so I boarded a bus
There she was sited in the back seat
The sight of her doubled my heartbeat

Glasses and earpieces on
Staring into her phone
She looked so fine
Vintage – like an old bottle of wine

Couldn’t tell if it was what she saw
What she read or what she heard
Whichever it was it made her smile
How wholesome it was

Her lips took the shape of a crimson
A noiseless moon in the starry sky
She looked so calm
And warm like a heart

I never believed a day would come
When I’d see an angel in person
But there she was
Sited in the back seat of a bus

Right then in my heart
I wondered if this was a bus
Fairing to heaven from Jos
It wouldn’t feel wrong

She got to her stop
Alighted the bus
But her aura remained
It followed me home

What has she done to me
I can’t focus all day long
My mind keeps wandering back
To the stranger on the bus…
