English singer and songwriter Liam Payne, who was a member of the famous pop band “One Direction” alongside Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson has passed away. He was 31.
The singer was found dead on Wednesday, October 16 after falling from a hotel’s balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Payne suffered “extremely serious injuries” after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in the upscale Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital, according to a statement from Buenos Aires police. According to the statement, doctors immediately verified his death.
However other reports suggest that the police are still carrying out investigations into the circumstances leading to his death since his hotel room was found in a disorderly manner following his unfortunate demise.
Brief Biography
Producer Simon Cowell famously put One Direction together in 2010 after noticing the musical prowess of Payne, Styles, Malik, Tomlinson, and Horan during their audition for the UK version of “The X-Factor.”
As the first band to have four albums debut at the top of the Billboard 200, the group’s journey to stardom was swift. With more than 70 million records sold worldwide, the group—known for hits like “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Best Song Ever,” and “Story of My Life”—remains one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
Following Malik’s departure from the group in 2015, One Direction announced that it would be taking an “indefinite hiatus” the following year. Payne, who released his most recent single, “Teardrops,” in March, was one of the five former members who moved on to seek solo careers.
Although their friendships had changed over time, Payne had attempted to maintain ties with his old bandmates despite his struggles with addiction and mental health, which he had previously discussed candidly.
Payne claimed that “all the boys” have supported him during his hardships.
Payne attended Horan’s concert in Argentina a few weeks prior to his passing, sharing videos of himself singing and dancing on his Snapchat page.
Payne’s admirers from all across the world have expressed their sorrow and paid their respects.
Solo Career
His first solo single, “Strip That Down,” was released in 2017. It peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart and number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100, earning platinum certification in both countries.
In December 2019, LP1, his first studio album, was made available. Payne sold more than 18 million singles, 2.4 million albums, and 3.9 billion streams in the first three years of his solo career.
Payne created remixes under the names “Big Payno” and “Payno” in addition to his solo work. He worked with various musicians and remixed songs for singer Cheryl and his group.
