I wrote you a poem
One filled with so much
“I love yous.” So much that
It makes it difficult to tell
If the words are exaggerated
Or expressions of how I truly feel.
I wrote you a song
The lyrics very long
It felt so wrong
That a few words
Could convey the rhythm of my love.
I made sure to make it melodious.
I wrote you a lullaby
A piece to put what we had to sleep
I knew from the moment we said “hi!”
That the day would come
When we’d say “goodbye!”
It’s hard to see you leave
But I guess I have to let go
If at all I am to make it
To the next spring
Thank you for the time we had
The memories we shared.
They will remain forever
In the photo book of my heart.
