‘Final Destination’ actor, Tony Todd passes on at 69, cause of death revealed

Renowned Hollywood actor Tony Todd, who starred in the horror movie franchise, “Final Destination”, “Candyman”, and other reputable horror movies has passed away. He was 69.

His manager, Jeffery Goldberg broke the news of his unfortunate demise to Entertainment Weekly. He said: “I regretfully can confirm that my dear friend and client of over 30 years Tony Todd has passed away. What an amazing man, and I will miss him every single day.”

Mourning the late actor, New Line Cinema, which produced the horror franchise, wrote on Instagram; “The industry has lost a legend. We have lost a cherished friend. Rest in peace, Tony, -Your Final Destination Family.”

After a protracted illness, Tony Todd passed away on Wednesday, November 6 at his Marina del Rey home, according to his wife Fatima, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter.

Brief Biography

Todd, who was born in Washington on December 4, 1954, attended the University of Connecticut for two years before receiving a scholarship to the Eugene O’Neill National Theatre Institute. His tenure at the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island, and the then-Hartman Conservatory in Stamford, Connecticut, were made possible in part by his experience there.

Todd began an acting career that would include more than 200 television and film appearances with his 1986 cinematic debut in Sleepwalk. His finest performance was as the hook-wielding ghost in the 1992 film Candyman. Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and its 2021 version included him again. Additionally, Todd played William Bludworth in the films Final Destination (2000), Final Destination 2 (2003), and Final Destination 5 (2011).

Among his previous credits was Night of the Living Dead (1990), The Rock (1996), The Crow (1994), Hatchet (2006), The Man from Earth (2007), Hatchet II (2010), The Flash, Frankenstein (2015), Hell Fest (2018), Requiem (2018), Hellblazers (2022), and The Bunker (2024). In addition, he portrayed Alpha Hirogen in Star Trek: Voyager and Kurn in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Todd is survived by his children, Alex and Ariana, in addition to his wife.
