Beauty in Ashes: A Tribute to Resilience and Love | Sleek Poems

I met a girl once

Who saw beauty in everything

Made excuses for every wrong

And hoped for a better world

No, she didn’t have it all

She’d received a fair share

Of life’s cruelty and hurt

A victim she was, of crisis and war

With the wind of the flame that razed

She let hate fly away

Out of the rubbles of pain

She let love have its way

I can’t help but wonder

The courage it takes.

Did she swap black for white? Or is it balanced at grey?

I want, even for a minute

To see the world with her eyes

The scenes it will hold I believe – a world void of hate.
